Career Search Tips

Asked by a friend how to think about networking, I advised:

There are least five possibilities for each networking moment and it is not always clear which one will result:

  1. Learning the landscape (where opportunities will lie, trends that generate opportunities)
  2. Obtaining access to someone in their rolodex (now that they know what you are looking for)
  3. An actual career opportunity
  4. Learning about an opportunity they know about
  5. A Chance to make an impression that will later result in one of the above

Want more insights from a terrific career coach? Sandra Rupp is one of my faves.

"Lessons for life about the core leadership traits of character, risk taking decisiveness and the ability to engage and inspire followers."
