Leadership Fave of the Week: Strozzi Institute

Before any meeting or phone call, I have always prepared by asking myself what outcome is desired and by developing a first pass mental model of the conversation (topics, sequence). This week, I added another dimension: how I will “show up.” This involves my mood, my physical stance and body shape, my voice tone. The result has been  astounding: (a) I feel readier, more confident, happier regardless of the level of challenge expected or arising and (b) those I meet respond positively! Where did this come from?

Strozzi Institute (strozziinstitute.com) conducts workshops in “embodiment” of one’s leadership potential. It is unlike any other workshop I have experienced. And it applies in every corner of my life. For starters, I am less likely to be upset by many things which used to upset me and affect my behavior negatively. For another, I am more likely to “blend” with others during resolution of a conflict than engage in fight or flight.

Future posts will translate some of what I experienced and learned and how it has worked in the real world into suggestions for you. Of course, there is no substitute for your enrolling in their courses.

Extraordinary Leaders

"Lessons for life about the core leadership traits of character, risk taking decisiveness and the ability to engage and inspire followers."
--Jim Clifton, CEO, The Gallup Organization
